Restoring excellence at Ashes Oval
Turfcare was exceptionally excited to be involved in the reconstruction of such a historically significant cricket ground as Ashes Oval, the home of the first test match between England & Australia in 1877.
With plans for a major redevelopment project of the Ashes Oval at Salesian College in Sunbury, Turfcare worked to guarantee a high-quality and time sensitive completion in all areas of the oval construction.
Starting in October 2018, excavation of the oval saw 13,000m3 of soil removed offsite, this allowed the site to be levelled and new subbase brought in, new drainage and fully automated irrigation system were installed, along with a specification built concrete cricket pitch and synthetic cover.
Working closely with Salesian College, we ensured the preservation of the 180+ year old tree, the final result was an upgrade of the Ashes Oval grounds that aligns with the historical significance of the site, complete with a traditional picket fence.
