Geelong Baseball Precinct Maintenance

Delivering excellence at the Geelong Baseball Centre & Pioneer Road Sports Complex

Turfcare was awarded the contract for turf maintenance of the Pioneer Road Sports Complex in Waurn Ponds back in 2013, which included the Geelong Baseball Centre.

The huge 26 hectare complex incorporated the Baseball Centre, Leisure Link, Waurn Ponds Library, skate and BMX parks and surround areas including walking paths, garden beds and carparks.

The Geelong Baseball Centre is home to the East Belmont Saints, Geelong Baycats and Guild All-Stars Baseball Clubs and known as ‘one of the finest in the Southern Hemisphere’. The grounds are used for regular training four nights of the week and also hold country, regional and major tournaments, including the Men’s Country and Regional Tournament, hosting 11 teams from around Victoria.

In November & December of 2018 and 2019, The Geelong Baseball Centre played host to the ABL home series tournament and Australian Baseball League’s first expansion team, ‘Geelong-Korea’. Both events were deemed great successes, with many people attending the tournament and the games live-streamed back to Korea.

Turfcare has put many hours into the quality and presentation of the precinct – not just the fields but also the open spaces, lawns, garden beds and paths. As a result, the space looks inviting, neat and well-looked after, leading to a noticeable increase in the use of the areas from dog walkers, kids and general public.

We are certainly proud of the outcome we have achieved at Pioneer Road Sports Precinct.
