Impeccable maintenance at the Deakin University Elite Sports Precinct in Geelong
Turfcare was thrilled to receive the contract for ongoing sports turf management at Deakin University’s Elite Sporting Complex in Waurn Ponds.
This three-year maintenance program includes looking after the entire sports precinct, including multiple sport fields accommodating cricket, baseball, a full athletics centre and synthetic soccer pitch.
The Elite Sports Precinct at the Deakin University Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus boasts world-class sport and fitness facilities for both elite athletes and students.
The sports precinct includes:
- an MCG-sized AFL oval
- FIFA-grade soccer pitch
- eight-lane 400-metre athletics track
- 50-metre long-jump track and sandpits
- high-quality baseball diamond
- basketball and netball courts
The precinct supports a wide range of users, from elite athletes like the Geelong Cats AFL and AFLW teams to student-based clubs like the Deakin Ducks Soccer Club. Some of the turf management tasks the Turfcare team regularly undertake to ensure the grounds are always prepared for these sporting activities include:
- Cylinder and outfront mowing
- Line marking
- Garden bed maintenance and mulching
- Weed spraying for insects
- Ongoing maintenance of the athletics track and baseball field
We also complete seasonal renovation and maintenance of the grounds, including aerating, scarifying, warm season to cool season conversions and oversowing. We also provide monthly reports and onsite meetings with the customer.
